  • Know where your local evacuation shelter is located.
  • Have a contact person or meeting loction planned incase you get separated from your family during an evacuation.
  • Have a 2 week supply of food, water and other supplies.

  • Flashlights and batteries.
  • First aid supplies.
  • Battery opperated TV or radio.
  • Be sure you have adequate insurance coverage.

  • Check to see if emergency equipment is working.
  • If your home is equipped with hurricane shutters be sure you have all the hardware and everything is in working order.
  • If you don't have hurricane shutters, now is the time you should have them installed or you should have plywood for your windows on hand.
  • Have cash on hand. If a hurricane strikes you may not be able to use ATM or credit cards
  • Know where to tune in your area for local news, weather and information.
  • Be sure you have a backup plan incase you have a problem with any of the above.
